BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The partial government shutdown continues to affect the local community.
Rep. Rick Larson issued a statement Saturday that said the shutdown will impact the operations and ability to transport, distribute and store food at the Bellingham Food Bank.
The USDA Service Center in Mount Vernon will also close during the shutdown and the Washington State Department of Transportation will need to delay Federal Transit Administration grant payments.
Larson says a long-term shutdown could also negatively impact operations at the Volunteers of America Western Washington, a nationwide nonprofit that has a branch in Everett.
