BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Democrat congressman and Representative for Washington’s 2nd District Rick Larsen will speak at a “Families Belong Together” rally this Saturday morning at Bellingham City Hall.
The rally, partially sponsored by MoveOn.org and the ACLU, will be held at dozens of locations nationwide in order to protest the current federal immigration policy.
Larsen says he supports legislation to halt the separation of families at the border, funding for community-based alternatives to detention, reforming the immigrant detention system and keeping children out of the child welfare system when it is not necessary to ensure the child’s safety.
Organizers for the Bellingham rally, who claim that President Trump is housing “2300 children in concentration camps separate from their parents at the border,” plan to begin the rally at 10:00 that morning.
