The Vancouver Canucks are expected to announce their new head coach Wednesday. According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob Mackenzie, Travis Green will be promoted from within the organization and get the job.

Green has coached the Canucks’ AHL affiliate, the Utica Comets, for the past four seasons. He complied 155 wins, leading Utica to the Calder Cup Final in the 2014-15 season.
Green played for five different teams over 16 years in the NHL. He played almost six full seasons with the New York Islanders, posting his best year inĀ 1995-96, when he scored 70 points.
Vancouver is looking for a new bench boss after firing Willie Desjardins April 10th. In three seasons Desjardins lead the Canucks to a 109-110-27 record, missing the playoffs the last two years.
Wednesday’s press conference is scheduled for 11am at Rogers Arena.
