OLYMPIA, Wash. – A Republican state legislator is taking aim at the Washington state’s new long-term care program and its payroll tax.
State Representative Peter Abbarno of Centralia prefiled a bill that would repeal the WA Cares Fund, which is set to take effect in July.
Abbarno said that the program, which was put on hold during the 2022 Legislative session, is riddled with issues.
So far, over 480,000 Washington residents have opted out of the WA Cares program.
The 2023 state Legislative session will begin on January 9th.
