Retail sales for the state in the second quarter are up 5% over last year, reaching 38.6 billion dollars.
Thanks in large part to seasonal growth in lawn and garden equipment.
The Department of Revenue says taxable retail sales in Whatcom County went up more than 11% in the same time period.
Numbers were even better for some of Whatcom’s smaller cities as Nooksack saw an increase of more than 177%, the largest boost in the state.
