PULLMAN, Wash. — A school official claims a fake video of former President Obama sent out in a tweet by Washington State University’s head football coach caused the school to lose about $1.6 million in estate gift donations.
Vice President for Marketing and Communications, Phil Weiler, says donors changed their plans after coach Mike Leach tweeted and defended a fake video doctored to make it appear Obama said things he did not.
WSU President Kirk Shulz tells The Lewiston Tribune no one asked for donations back, but some donors chose to remove the school from their estate donations that would go out after their death.
