SEATTLE, WASH. (AP) – British billionaire Richard Branson isn’t too happy about Alaska Airlines’ decision to retire the Virgin America brand.
The Seattle Times reports Branson called the Seattle-based airline’s move “baffling.”
Alaska announced last week it would drop the Virgin America name and logo by 2019 as part of the two airlines’ merger.
Branson says it seems like Alaska Airlines is going to “rip the heart out of” the brand.
The airline says it needs to operate under one name for consistency and efficiency.
