GLACIER, Wash. —Â Washington State Department of Transportation crews have closed the final portion of Mount Baker Highway for the season.
The 2.7 mile final stretch, known as the Road to Artist Point, is narrow with sharp curves and steep slopes. The road is closed to vehicles in winter for safety.
While the gate is closed, backcountry adventurers can access the area on skis, snowshoes, and fat bikes at their own risk.
While clearing depends upon the weather, the road typically reopens in July.
