MARBLEMOUNT, Wash. — The road to one of the most popular North Cascades National Park hiking trails is still closed and is expected to stay closed for at least another two to three weeks.
The National Park Service says crews are working to stabilize and repair Cascade River Road a few miles before the Cascade Pass trailhead after storms, heavy rains and flooding caused considerable damage last winter.
Foot traffic is still permitted beyond the closure, but cars must stay clear of the area and hikers are urged to pay close attention to large trucks and equipment.
For information on alternative hikes in the park, call the Wilderness Information Center at 360-854-7245.
