MOSCOW, RusĀ (AP) – A Russian man convicted of hacking into U.S. businesses to steal credit card data was sentenced to 27 years in prison and ordered to pay nearly $170,000,000 in restitution.

“The fact is; his websites, together with the criminal hacking conduct that he engaged in, essentially set up a How-To for criminals in how to obtain money through stolen credit cards,” says US Attorney for Western Washington Annette Hayes.

Roman Seleznev is the son of a member of the Russian Parliament.

He was first indicted in 2011.
