WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. safety officials are moving closer to letting the grounded Boeing 737 Max fly again.

The FAA said Tuesday that it will soon issue a proposed safety directive for the plane, but it gave no indication of when it will lift the order that grounded the plane in March 2019 after multiple deadly crashes.

The administration says it will give the public 45 days to comment on Boeing’s proposed changes to the plane and pilot-training procedures.
