Good news for salmon lovers, the Washington Salmon Recovery Funding Board and the Puget Sound Partnership announced an award for $53 million in grants that will protect and restore salmon habitat across the state.

In an news release by the Department of Natural Resources, Gov. Jay Inslee says the project will tackle some fundamental problems that are destroying our salmon populations.

The grants will mainly be used for removing barriers that prevent Washington salmon from migrating and aim to increase the diversity and amount of salmon habitats.
