SEATTLE, Wash. – The Russell Wilson era in Seattle is over.
The Seahawks have agreed to trade their star quarterback to the Denver Broncos.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Seahawks will get quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant and defensive lineman Shelby Harris in the trade.
They’ll also receive two first round draft picks, two second round picks and a fifth rounder.
In addition to Wilson the Seahawks will send a fourth round pick to Denver.
Wilson has to agree to the trade as his contract with the Seahawks includes a no-trade clause.
He will also have to pass a physical.
A team spokesperson emailed this reply to KPUG’s request for comment:
“Nothing to officially report on the record. We have heard and are aware of the reports regarding trade conversations for Russell. Unfortunately per league rules until the new league year begins next week, we cannot confirm anything at this time.”
Seahawks Pete Carroll told reporters at last week’s scouting combine that the team had no intention of trading Wilson but discussions of a deal had obviously been going on behind closed doors.
Schefter reports the team fielded calls from as many as a dozen teams with interest in Wilson.
If the deal goes through, Wilson will become the first quarterback to start for a team he beat in a Super Bowl.
The Seahawks dominated the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII to bring home Seattle’s only Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Wilson leaves the team as the leader in most quarterback categories.
The Seahawks are scheduled to play the Broncos at Lumen Field next season.
