BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A search of the home of a Bellingham man previously arrested on firearms and assault charges after a drive-by shooting on March 12th turned up homemade explosives.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says they served a warrant on the home of Robert Chase, cooperating with the FBI, ATF, and Lummi Law and Order.

The search turned up two homemade grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED).

Explosives experts disabled the grenades and safely detonated the IED.

Additional charges are being considered against Chase after the search, which also turned up more firearms and explosives-making materials.

Chase remains in custody at the Whatcom County Jail.
