Seattle mayor proposes over $1 million for drug injection sites

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan says her administration is pushing forward with plans for a legal injection site for illegal drug users despite opposition from the U.S. Justice Department.

KOMO reports her budget proposal would allot $1.3 million for a pilot program.

Health care workers would be at the site to help prevent overdoses.

The Justice Department has promised aggressive action to prevent legal injection sites.
