SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) It’s starting to look like a Seattle soda tax will become a reality.

Seattle City Council members gave preliminary approval to Mayor Ed Murray’s proposal.

But, the council changed the plan to exclude diet pop.

The Seattle Times reports the council will take a final vote on Monday.

If approved, the city will levy a one-point-7-5-cent tax on each ounce of beverages like Pepsi and Coke.
