SEATTLE – Sam’s Club recently announced it was closing 63 stores, including three in the Seattle area, but the impact goes beyond workers and customers.

The North Helpline Food Bank in Seattle tells KING-5 that Sam’s Club would donate roughly $500,000 dollars worth of food to the busy food bank each year.

Executive Director Kelly Brown said they feed about 1,600 people a week, distributing 1.5 million pounds of food a year, a quarter of which comes from Sam’s Club.

Brown said she hopes local businesses and individuals will help fill the gap.
