BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A second case of monkeypox has been reported in Whatcom County.
Health Department officials said that the person, who is in their 20s, has not been hospitalized and is isolating at home.
The first case of the viral disease in the county was reported last month.
Health officials did not disclose where the second person may have gotten the virus, and are working to identify those who have been in contact with that individual.
Monkeypox is most often spread through skin-to-skin contact.
Whatcom County Health officials add that monkeypox testing and vaccines are widely available throughout the county.
More information about where to schedule a testing or vaccine appointment can be found on the Whatcom County website.
