OLYMPIA, Wash. — Governor Inslee and Secretary of State Kim Wyman announced the state will pay for prepaid postage on mail-in ballots in this year’s primary and general elections in hopes of boosting turnout.
The state won’t pay for King County though, where the council approved their own measure last week.
Wyman said it would be unfair if voters in the most populous county could mail their ballots for free while everybody else had to pay for stamps, and asked for nearly $2 million to reimburse all 39 counties for prepaid postage.
