SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. – An investigation is underway into a shooting by a Sedro-Woolley Police officer that left a person hospitalized.
The State Patrol reports a Mount Vernon Police officer tried to stop the driver of a possible stolen car on College Way at 11:19 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16th.
The driver fled on Northbound I-5 and was later spotted by a Skagit County Deputy.
Sedro-Woolley police engaged the vehicle at North Fruitdale and McGarigle Roads and four officers were on the scene when one opened fire.
The 51-year-old suspect from Concrete was airlifted to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham.
A multi-agency team of detectives from Skagit and Island Counties is investigating the shooting.
