SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — A Sedro-Woolley man told sheriff’s deputies he attempted to shoot his elderly father because “the TV news” told him to.
According to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told deputies the he had been sleeping in his bedroom when he awoke to his son, 53-year-old Scott Granger, yelling at the television in the living room early Wednesday.
The victim said Granger then opened the bedroom door, pointed a shotgun directly at the victim, and fired a single round that narrowly missed him.
When deputies arrived to the scene in the 3000 block of Pine Lane near Reed Lake in south Whatcom County, they found the shotgun and a bullet hole through a pillow and a bullet lodged in the mattress.
