OLYMPIA, Wash. — State Senator Doug Ericksen is drawing criticism over his company’s contract with the government of Cambodia, even from within his own party.
The Ferndale Republican has formed a company that inked a $500,000 per year contract to do consultation work for Cambodia.
Ericksen also observed and praised Cambodia’s 2018 election, which the Trump Administration has said was “neither free nor fair.”
Florida Republican U.S. Representative Ted Yoho is a sponsor of legislation that would sanction the Cambodian government, which he tells the Seattle Times is a dictatorship.
He and others are strongly criticizing Sen. Ericksen for his involvement with Cambodia.
Ericksen hasn’t yet returned a call from KGMI seeking comment.
