OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The U.S. Senate confirmed Brian Moran, a former leader in the state attorney general’s office, to be the top federal prosecutor in western Washington.

Moran, 59, will replace U.S. Attorney Annette Hayes.

Moran supervised nearly 600 state lawyers as chief deputy attorney general from 2006 to 2013 under Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna.

After voting to confirm the Trump appointee, Sen. Patty Murray said, “Mr. Moran has earned a reputation for integrity and independence that will serve him well . . . I wish him the best in this critically important position.”

Q13 reports Moran is grateful for the support of Murray and Cantwell.
