The state Senate is considering a bill to fund a new I-5 Interchange project in Blaine.
Republican State Senator Doug Ericksen of Ferndale has introduced a bill to fund reconstruction of I-5 Exit 274.
The project would add a new southbound off-ramp onto Peace Portal Drive.
The project had previously been vetoed by Governor Jay Inslee when it was included in the sweeping April 2017 transportation bill.
In a press release, Ericksen said this year’s legislation, which would allocate twelve point one million dollars for the work, and “ensures Blaine’s project will remain front and center as the Legislature considers transportation projects in 2018”.
