Washington, D.C.- Senator Patty Murray is singing the praises of a compromise spending bill crafted by Democrats in the Senate.
She says the Inflation Reduction Act will live up to its name in a number of ways.
“This legislation would drastically lower prescription drug cost and finally let Medicare negotiate drug prices,” said Murray. “This a a big deal and huge step forward and its something that I’ve been working on as the chair of the senate health committee for a long time.”
She says it will also help with health care costs by extending health care tax credits from last year’s COVID relief bill.
And she says it will help reduce greenhouse emissions by offering tax breaks and rebates on electric vehicles, rooftop solar and more.
Murray says the bill is completely paid for.
“Our bill will help re-build the IRS to go after those giant cooperation’s and the very wealthiest who are cheating on their taxes,” said Murray.
Murray is running for re-election this year.
Republican Tiffany Smiley emerged from Tuesday’s primary as her challenger in the upcoming general election.
