MOUNT VERNON, WASH. (AP) – Washington’s highest law enforcement honor is awarded to 22 police officers, and several are from Skagit County.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports seven of the Law Enforcement Medals of Honor went to Skagit officers.
Mount Vernon Police saw six officers honored, and Burlington saw one.
Mount Vernon officer Mike McClaughry received the award after he was shot in the head while responding to a call.
