OAK HARBOR, Wash. — Four Washington elementary schools have been named Green Ribbon Schools by the Department of Education.

Broad View Elementary in Oak Harbor, Carnation Elementary in Carnation, and Eatonville Elementary and Weyerhaeuser Elementary in Eatonville were honored by the Department for their environmental efforts.

The schools have worked on waste reduction, environmental stewardship, and STEM learning.

Awardees get $1,250 to continue sustainability efforts or use towards transportation to the September honors ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Washington ranks third among states with the most Green Ribbon Schools, bested only by California and Georgia.
