BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Whatcom County Health Department has partnered with the City of Bellingham and several other organizations to coordinate winter shelter options, but they need additional help with manning severe weather shelters.

The Health Department is calling for volunteers with flexibility in their schedules for nights when shelters will be open, from about 5 PM until 8 AM.

Severe weather shelters will only open on nights when temperatures are 28 degrees Fahrenheit or colder.

More information and a volunteer form are available on the Whatcom Volunteer website.

Winter shelter options are listed on the Whatcom County website.
