BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A man hit by a car and severely injured while riding his bike last Tuesday has local ties.
We previously reported Stephen Cairns was airlifted to Providence Hospital after a driver veered off the road and struck him from behind on the ditch on Highway 525 near Mutiny Bay Road on Whidbey Island.
Known as “Stevie”, Cairns is a 2019 WWU grad who worked at Bellingham Covenant Church while attending school.
A GoFundMe effort has already raised nearly $40,000 toward his medical expenses and rehab.
