SUDDEN VALLEY, Wash. – A break in a sewer line near Sudden Valley prompted the Lake Whatcom Water and Sewer District to issue a boil water advisory to people who draw their water directly from the lake.

The break allowed about 45,000 gallons of waste water to flow into a ditch, and some waste may have made its way into creeks that empty into Lake Whatcom.

The boil water advisory is expected to be lifted later this week.
