SHELTON, Wash. — A man with connections to Whatcom County is being held in Shelton for allegedly impersonating a police officer using a former police vehicle.
KOMO reports police arrested David Joseph last week after receiving complaints that he was trying to pull drivers over and that he threatened at least one woman.
Shelton Police Chief Darrin Moody says Joseph was driving a former police car that was sold at auction.
“It looks like an old police vehicle . . . with a full cage in the back for prisoner transport, the radio antennae is on top of the car . . . you would think it was a police car,” he says.
Anyone who has been contacted by someone they think was not a legitimate officer should contact law enforcement.
