BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Local authorities are cracking down on drug trafficking.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office recently released its 2019 Annual Report to the community, providing an overview of its programs and giving stats and lists of accomplishments.

It highlights activity from the Whatcom Gang and Drug Task Force, which is a multi-agency task force comprised of local law enforcement, focusing on the distribution of narcotics in Whatcom County.

Its investigations resulted in 50 felony arrests, the seizure of nearly 200 pounds of illegal drugs as well as 6,000 fentanyl pills in 2019.

The task force also seized 61 firearms and $3.5 million in cash and property.
