BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Investigators are on the hunt for a suspect that stole a car after burglarizing a home near Bellingham.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that deputies were called to the home on Nulle Road Saturday, April 23rd, around 1 a.m.

The homeowners said someone had broken in while they were sleeping, stole several items, and took a car from their garage.

As deputies were on their way to the home, Bellingham Police officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the southern part of the county.

Attempts to pull the car over were unsuccessful and the suspect took off at a high rate of speed.

The investigation is ongoing.
