WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. – With the forecast of hot, sunny weather, the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is urging boaters to keep safety in mind.
With the recent rise in statewide boating accidents and drownings, the Whatcom County Marine Deputies will be placing increased emphasis on the wearing of life jackets and making sure required safety equipment is also present.
Boating fatality statistics show that wearing a life jacket gives boaters and paddlers the best chance of survival in the event of an accident, especially in cold water.
