MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Three Skagit County residents are among 16 cadets who graduated a parks law enforcement training academy Tuesday.

The 30th graduating class of the Skagit Valley Parks Law Enforcement Academy completed the 17-week-long course by logging 728 hours of study and passing six Federally-administered tests.

The academy is one of only 7 programs in the US taught at the college or university level that is approved by the National Park Service and accredited by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Board.

More than 1,000 cadets have graduated from the program since it started in 1991.
