SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – The first Flood Awareness Week in Skagit County started Monday, October 11th.
County Commissioners signed a proclamation earlier this month to promote flood awareness and prepare for the upcoming winter season.
The county will be hosting two free webinars, featuring speakers from their Department of Emergency Management as well as NOAA.
The Emergency Management webinar on flood awareness is scheduled for Wednesday, October 13th from 6 to 8 pm.
And the webinar hosted by NOAA on weather spotter training is scheduled for Thursday, October 14th from 6 to 8 pm.
Commissioner Lisa Janicki says she encourages Skagit County residents to use this week to create a plan ahead of the flooding season.
