BURLINGTON, Wash. – A cold weather shelter is opening in Skagit Count today, Wednesday, December 22nd.
The Friendship House will have its First Steps Center in Burlington open as an emergency cold weather shelter for up to 20 people.
If you need a place to warm up, you should check in at the Friendship House Café on Snoqualmie Street in Mount Vernon, and transportation to the center will be provided.
Law enforcement officers can also drop people off directly at the center if it’s necessary.
Skagit County Public works is funding the service with help from Catholic Community Services, Anacortes Family Center and Northwest Youth Services.
