MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Washington sees another flu-related death as Skagit County reports its first this season.
Several deaths in Whatcom County are among the more than 20 confirmed flu-related deaths in the state.
The Department of Health says the majority of the deaths so far have been in people older than 65 with underlying conditions.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports the woman who died of the flu there was also over 65 with a chronic medical condition.
Though this year’s flu vaccine provides only about 10 percent protection, the department still encourages you to get the shot.
