MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Skagit County will seek state funds to complete its electric ferry project.
The county Board of Commissioners approved a legislative agenda Monday to seek $8.5 million additional funding to replace the Guemes Island Ferry with an electric vessel.
Public Works Director Dan Berentson told the Skagit Valley Herald the county already has about $9 million in funding for that project.
Berentson noted that an electric ferry will reduce maintenance and diesel costs and reduce pollution.
