BURLINGTON, Wash. – Skagit County potato farmers are losing sales due to a shortage of commercial truck drivers to deliver their product.

The Skagit Valley Herald reported it’s peak potato shipping season, but with some drivers striking over a new federal law on mile logging and others helping in Texas and Florida, farmers said drivers are scarce.

KOMO reports potatoes are the area’s most lucrative crop and farmers grow them on about 12,000 acres.
