MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — After over a decade of stable fares, Skagit Transit is increasing bus fares and eliminating free transfers.
One way-rides will still cost $1, but the Skagit Valley Herald reports the transit agency will no longer give free transfers starting January 2.
Day passes are increasing from $2 to $3, and a monthly bus pass will now be $30 per month.
The agency also plans to roll out an electronic fare system in January that allows riders to use their phones to pay for rides and buy passes.
