MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – Skagit Valley College cancelled classes and other operations on Monday, May 9th, because of a threat of violence.

The school received an emailed threat on Sunday, May 8th, that claimed firearms and explosives would be used to carry out the threat.

Everett Community College reported receiving the same threat and also cancelled classes for the day.

Mount Vernon Police say the SVC campus was placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution and they believe there is no credible threat to the community.

Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College and Western Washington University report that they have not received any threats and were open as scheduled.
