OAK HARBOR, Wash. — A Search and Rescue helicopter crew picked up an injured skier on the slopes of Mount Baker Monday.

The skier reportedly broke his ankle while skiing near the western side of the mountain’s “Roman Wall” before the team from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island responded.

The helicopter arrived on the scene to see several skiers pointing out the injured skier.

They pulled the 21-year-old man onboard and took him to PeaceHealth St. Joseph at about 4 PM.
