BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The husband of the slain Sunnyland Elementary School principal has been formally charged with murder.
The Whatcom County Prosecutor’s Office filed murder charges against Kevin Heimsoth on Friday.
Heimsoth is accused of shooting his wife and their two pets to death in their home in Bellingham on December 26.
According to court documents, Heimsoth told a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office detective that he did not commit the crime in an interview at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Sheriff Bill Elfo said deputies will serve Heimsoth with an arrest warrant once he is released from the hospital.
