OLYMPIA, Wash. — Governor Jay Inslee is facing resistance to his stay-at-home orders.
The Snohomish County Sheriff, Adam Fortney, says he will not enforce the governor’s stay-at-home order put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus as he says it violates people’s constitutional rights.
Fortney announced his position on Facebook Tuesday after Governor Inslee held a statewide address and said the state will not be able to lift many stay-home restrictions by May 4, which is the date his directive was previously set to expire.
Inslee also said he hopes health modeling in the coming days will allow some activities in Washington to resume.
