BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Some Bellingham Bay beaches are closed to recreation shellfish harvesting because of paralytic shellfish poisoning.
Beaches from Bellingham Bay south to the Skagit County line, including all of Larrabee State Park are closed.
Crab meat is not affected, but “crab butter” should be thrown out.
Shellfish in restaurants and markets are tested and are safe to eat.
