BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Southwest Airlines begins service out of Bellingham International Airport in just over a week.

The airline will inaugurate service from Bellingham with a flight to Oakland, California on Sunday, November 7th.

Southwest will also offer service from Bellingham to Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver and Hawaii.

Southwest becomes the third major carrier to fly out of BLI, joining Alaska and Allegiant Airlines.

The Port of Bellingham has also announced more improvements to Bellingham’s airport.

A $5 million federal grant is fully funding a new taxi lane.

It will allow access from the runway to a new hangar complex at the former Air National Guard site.

The local RAM Construction company is building the taxiway.
