SEATTLE, Wash. (KING) – Seattle’s Space Needle renovation will cost $100 million and include a lot of glass.

The Needle’s Karen Olsen tells KING-5 they’re going for unobstructed views.

“All glass. We’re going to take out the pony wall, take out the metal cage, put 11 foot tall glass barriers, with open air in between.”

The observation deck will become floor-to-ceiling glass and SkyCity Restaurant will have a rotating glass floor.

That means diners will have a view straight to the ground.

The SkyCity Restaurant will close until the work is finished, but other sections of the Needle will remain open.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September and take years to complete.
