Spark Museum named Bellingham’s greatest tourism business

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Sandy Ward, CEO of Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism has announced the Tourism Business of the Year.

The agency gave the Spark Museum of Electrical Invention the award because it consistently ranks as the number one museum experience in Bellingham on TripAdvisor, plus about 60% of guests travel more than 50 miles to visit.

The Spark Museum in downtown Bellingham has one of the largest exhibits of early electrical apparatus in the world, and includes exciting pieces like a telephone used by Alexander Graham Bell and Edison’s first successful light bulb.

One of the newest exhibits includes a piece of Edison’s original power distribution cable installed in 1883, which was discovered during the excavation of the World Trade Center after 9/11.
