SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane medical doctor has pleaded guilty to charges that he tried to hire hitmen on the dark web to kidnap his estranged wife and assault a former colleague.

Court documents show that Ronald Ilg paid tens of thousands of dollars for hitmen to kidnap his wife and inject her with heroin to get her to stop court proceedings against him.

Ilg pleaded guilty to two counts of threats in interstate commerce as part of a plea deal on Wednesday, August 10th,

He originally pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted kidnapping in May 2021.

Charges of cyberstalking, attempted kidnapping, damage to a computer and witness tampering were dropped.

Ilg has been a licensed physician in Washington state since 2003.
